Sonic ESB Bridges Apps

Now supported is preliminary integration with Sonic's high-quality Sonic Stylus Studio® XML editor, included with the $3,750 Sonic ESB Professional Developer Suite, a developer-only version of Sonic ESB. Stylus Studio® can open and edit XML and XSLT files from Sonic ESB's file repository.

Sonic ESB: Programmable integration

Content-based routing is done inside the end-point services using XPath to view attached XML documents and conditionally route based on contents of the document. The transformation service uses XSLT (eXtensible Style Language Transformation). Sonic Software's Stylus product graphically creates XSLT documents that transform from one XML schema to another.

Sonic Software revs up

Stylus Studio® 4.0: A now-mature XSLT editor.

Stylus Studio® is definitely a useful tool for the XML/XSLT developer. It gives you remarkably powerful features for working with XSLT parameters, named or matched templates, different output formats, and more. Stylus Studio® is reasonably priced, and it works well both as a standalone application for developing XSLT and in conjunction with other workflow products, including eXcelon's XML management system.

Excelon Bulks up XML Support

Excelon on Monday also unveiled Stylus Studio® Version 4.5, an update of its XML IDE for building applications based on XML and the XSLT (eXtensible Stylesheet Language Transformations) standards. Stylus Studio® 4.5 provides automatic generation of XSLT style sheets from HTML pages, Jaenicke said. In addition, the product features enhanced debugging, including new support for debugging .Net XSLT processors and Saxon XSLT processors, she said.

eXcelon re-invents itself again

At the front-end, Stylus Studio® is a generic XML development and deployment environment that is available for download (at $299) from www.stylusstudio.com to work with any back-end database. According to eXcelon this is the most advanced product of its type on the market, most notably because it includes an XML debugger. As witness to this assertion both Oracle and Software AG (eXcelon's leading competitors in the XML database stakes) have licensed Stylus Studio® for re-sale, though their versions are always one release behind that of eXcelon. The company claims to be selling 1,000 copies of Stylus Studio® per month so it should be getting lots of leads from this activity, even if it's not generating any huge revenues.

Beta release of eXcelon Stylus Studio®

eXcelon Corporation have announced a beta release of Stylus Studio®, incorporating a visual XSLT debugging tool. Stylus Studio®'s visual XSLT debugger allows the tracing of variables, setting of watches, and stack traces. It also integrates a Java debugger, allowing Java extension functions to be debugged from within XSLT. In addition, Studio has a visual XSLT editor, and an XML document editor. eXcelon reports that their XML editor is highly scalable, working with documents in the tens of megabytes. It has XPath query support. Stylus Studio® also incorporates a DTD and W3C XML Schema editor. The beta is available from eXcelon's web site.
