well there the main (only?) thing that is unfortunate is that it parses 
<foo/> as a start tag.

namespace declarations are ignored: unknown elements go into the 
namespace of their parent, so xhtml normally. But that can be explained 
easily enough "html doesn't do namespaces"

but fixing up the dom tree after
<aaa><xxx/><yyy/></aaa>
parses as
<aaa><xxx><yyy></yyy></xxx></aaa>
is a pain.
