Subject: Where is the attribute?

In my xsl I have this fragment. In the ouput the second line does not
get any output.
What am I doing wrong?
XSL:

<MIN><xsl:value-of select="$xsd-match-node/@minOccurs"/></MIN>

XML:

- <NODE xmlns:xs="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema">

</NODE>
<MIN xmlns:xs="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema" /> <<-------- Why is
there no '1'???
