Looks great - apart from the xmlns requirement if prefixes are used...
doesn't that make it no longer a subset?

If there is potential for the markup to be combined with other markup
in a single document they could either:

a) use XML 1.0

or

b) use an underscore or dot, eg <mycomp.foo>

I think that's sufficient and keeps everything really clear and simple.
