Sleepycat's DB XML may satisfy your requirements. The XML repository can
include metadata that helps you classify the XML documents without affecting
the original XML. You can choose to store the exact original XML documents
including whitespace or more normative node-based XML which would be better
for diffs. Also, you can perform XPath queries on single documents or groups
of documents.
