Okay, so let me summarize this thread.  An initial question about 
multi-party authentication got some answers. It also got bogged down 
into a side discussion about how "old school" the architecture must be. 
In order to learn how to do security in the bright and shiny new world, 
come to a meeting in New York in a couple of weeks.
