Andrew, until they can work out the difference 
between a standard for interoperating technologies 
and specifications for emerging technologies, this 
is hopeless.  It will always go to the same strange 
attractors.

Standardize what works.  Specify what you want to work. 
Send the marketing guys to the standards meetings.  Send 
the engineers to the specification design projects.

I thought at least some list members would be interested in the above, given 
the frustration that has been expressed on this list in the recent past in 
relation to XSLT 2.0, XPath 2.0 and so on.
