So in short, this meme will win like HTML did despite 
better alternatives.  Then a few years later after 
the heros' shoes are bronzed, the money is made, 
the leadership positions are secure, we'll be 
back cleaning up the mess.

Here is one possible reading of the tea leaves of the HTTPectomy meme.
By the time they are doing that, I fear the world will have forgotten that REST
presented an alternative, and I would argue significantly more powerful,
data-flow based approach to building systems.
