Second sentence of chapter 1, Date, A Guide to the SQL Standard, 4th
ed.: "In its standard incarnation, however, the name is "just a name"
and is not considered to be an abbreviation for anything at all."  Don't
know how much more help he could offer, other than by fibbing.
