Here is something that puzzles me. The XML spec states that: "In the content of elements, character data is any string of characters which does not contain the start-delimiter of any markup. In a CDATA section, character data is any string of characters not including the CDATA-section-close delimiter, ']]>'." Second sentence seems to be saying that CDATA-section-close is not allowed only in a CDATA section yet the production rule for CharData is: [14] CharData ::= [^<&]* - ([^<&]* ']]>' [^<&]*) What is the reason for special treatment of ']]>' in character data?
