I had a similar problem and was writing a similar message when it suddenly 
connected. I think I must have hit it at the same time as lots of others, 
or maybe it sends lots of Javascript or something which my browser was 
doing slowly, or maybe it was doing something Java-esque on the server like 
spawning hundreds of tasks. But once it came to life it was excellent.
