Remember that XML entities are expanded BEFORE XPath parsing, so '&apos;` is
seen by XPath as ''' (three apostrophes) which clearly isn't going to work.

A much better approach is to use XSLT variables:

<xsl:variable name="apos">'</xsl:variable>

allowing things like substring-after(xxx, $apos)
