Thinking about this a little more,

what I mostly want is first-available($sequence,$function)

and you get back the first member of $sequence where $function is true.

Which is equivalent to

filter($sequence,$function) => head()

So I need to stop using ($a,$b,$c,$default)[1] so much and start using
filter().
