I have an XPath question to which I cannot find the answer. Let $node_set be a set of element nodes, stored in a variable. In this set there is an element with @id="foo". I would like to know the position of this element within the node set. I found the following solution: <xsl:for-each select="$node_set"> <xsl:if test="@id='foo'"> <xsl:value-of select="position()"> </xsl:if> </xsl:for-each> I cannot but think that there is a quicker, XPath-only solution to this, yet I cannot find it.
