The blog you stumbled upon was from someone who heard the talk that accompanied this paper at Extreme Markup 2007: http://www.saxonica.com/papers/Extreme2007/EML2007Kay01.html Sorry about the bad formatting - this is a version of the paper resuscitated when IDEAlliance decided to take their archives off the public web. I am writing an XSLT optimizer, basically stripping comments and extra white-space from an XSLT document for production deployment. I don't see why you imagine that stripping comments and extra whitespace from a stylesheet would speed it up. Do you have a performance problem? If so, please describe it, and perhaps we can help. If not, why are you doing this? Michael Kay Saxonica
