you are not by any chance using the "xsl" in msxml2 /ie5 are you? That
is only distantly related to XSLt and has been deprecated by microsoft
for nearly a decade.

Your stylesheet start with

<xsl:stylesheet version="1.0"
xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform"

(or version="2.0" if you have an XSLT 2 processor)
