onclick="javascript:__EmployeeDetails( <xsl:value-of
select="./fldEmployee"/> )">Employee Details</a>

is it possible?is there any otherway(I know xslt can also be in client side) ?

You might want to write:

onclick="javascript:__EmployeeDetails({./fldEmployee})".

This is an attribute value template, permitted in literal elements.
Text in curly braces is xpath.
