actually the original post had
disable-output-escaping="yes">&_lt_;![CDATA[</xsl:text>
which wouldn't be a compilation error but after a series of quoted
replies, someone's mailer  somewhere has changed the &lt; to a <
so the original version isn't a compilation error it's just the wrong
thing to do. (And probably doesn't work on Gestalt, as you probably
don't support d-o-e do you?)
