The error mesaage you quoted seems pretty clear

xsl:value-of requires attribute: select

you have    <xsl:value-of />  which is a syntax error. You have to use a
select attribute to say what you want a value of. I think you want the
current node, which would be

   <xsl:value-of select="."/>
