My problem is a bit more complex. This was just an example and my real xml file goes much deeper after "control". I'm trying to understand if what you supplied here is different than using: <xsl:for-each select="/tree/controls/control/item1"> <xsl:value-of select="data"/> <xsl:value-of select="../item2/data"/> </xsl:for-each> Wouldn't it act just the same? I'm talking in a performance sense.
