Subject: Retaining Entity refrence names in Output

Is it possible to retain the entity reference name in
the output if the entity maps to multiple character
reference?

For example

ENTITY combo "&amp;#x2199;&amp;#x2198;"

so that when I encounter an &combo; in the input it
will still output to &combo; and not &#x2199;&#x2198;
