My XML document structure looks like this.
<library>
<category>
<book name="name1"/>
</category>
<category>
<book name="name2"/>
</category>
</library>
If you want to jump from a book in a category to the next book (possibly in another category), you need:
<xsl:variable name="book" select="book/@name"/>
<xsl:variable name="nextbook" select="following::book[1]/@name"/>
