Saxon 8.x provides an extension function that enables you to parse a string
of lexical XML and turn it into a tree that XSLT can manipulate, but there's
no similar function in 6.5.3 (or in the standard). The thing to do is to put
the lexical XML into a file, and then read it with the document() function.
