Even so, having an output tag can't hurt (someone please
correct me if I'm wrong on that).

Mozilla doesn't serialize the transformation result, the
constructed DOM goes straigt to the renderer. An xsl:output
doesn't have any effect in such situations, with the possible
exception of the doctype declaration.
