in particular transformiix the xslt engine in mozilla and netscape, but
in general you can expect _any_ XSLT system not to support this when it
is passing on an in-memory tree representation of the result rather than
linearising the result to a file or string.
d-o-e basically is a hack to put in XML markup syntax into the output
string, but markup syntax\isn't a whole lot of use if you are not
producing a linear stream of markup that is going to be parsed by an XML
parser.
