thanks everybody helping with this problem

Miachael and Alessio were right the variable
wasn't in scope and I didn't realice

Thanks Tom anyway, it was an error in the mail
sended not in the xsl file

"variable scope" is a strange concept for me using xsl
in other languajes no need to worry so much where the
variable is defined

Ok I'll do my homework and study a little bit more
