so that is pre in the http://abcd namespace


  <xsl:template match="pre[@class='programlisting']">

matches pre in not in any namespace, which is not the same as you have.

You want

  <xsl:template match="h:pre[@class='programlisting']">

and xmlns:h="http://abcd" in your xsl:stylesheet element.

Incidentally if this is html why are they in http://abcd
