If your javascript function expects a string, then in the function call,
convert the XPath value to a string using the string() function. Otherwise
the Javascript function will be passed a node-set. The implicit conversion
of node-sets to strings that happens when you call native XPath functions
doesn't happen within a JavaScript function.
