In my preceeding post, containing a stylesheet to solve John Wang's
question,  the line

  <xsl:variable name='field' select='../@id'/>

can be replaced with

  <xsl:variable name='field' select='.'/>

The first version was left over from some previous experiments and I forgot
to simplify it.
