Has anyone used a select statement with nested hard brackets:

   select="something/[something[something]]"

I was experimenting with some rather complicated expressions and
I didn't get a complaint about the syntax (nor am I 100% clear 
on what the nested syntax means). If someone had a meaningful 
example, this would help a lot.
