hi walter:

the microsoft news server msnews.microsoft.com maintains many groups
that are public - i.e. anyone with a news reader can access them
(provided their firewall allows for it). you can also access the MS
newsgroups via the web at:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/newsgroups/default.asp, or via google groups 
(the old deja) at:
http://groups.google.com/groups?hl=en&lr=lang_en&safe=off&group=microsoft
