The Apache FOP project (http://xml.apache.org/fop/) converts XSL:FO to PDF.
You'd just need to have an XSLT that converted your XML into the
appropriately formatted XSL:FO.

I recently bought XSLT Programmer's Reference by Michael Kay (wich by the 
way is an excellent book that I would reccommend to anyone.)  In it he talks

about the possibility to make an XML document into RTF or PDF.  Does anyone 
know of any sort of documentation of how to do this, or any way to do this?

I experimented and tried a few things unsuccessfuly so any help would be 
greatly appreciated.
