I'm using Xerxes/XT/FOP to output a pdf.  The top portion of the document
is in English and the bottom is French.  My XML document supports various
characters, but the resulting PDF puts a '#' anywhere there is special
character.

These are the characters I need:  É, Ê, È, é, À, Á, à
