You need to write
sError += xmlEscape(subject);
where xmlEscape() is a function that substitutes special characters with
their escaped forms, e.g. "&" changes to "&".
Here is a very simple unoptimised VBScript version (it doesn't attempt to
handle
non-ASCII characters):
