How does <xsl:variable> work?
What is the scope of a xsl:variable ?

If I have:

<xsl:template match="node1">
 <xsl:variable name="var1" expr="@num"/>
 <xsl:apply-templates />
</xsl:template>

when the processor 'applies' <xsl:appy-templates /> can the next rules use '
var1 ' ?
