Is it possible to transform something like this:

<a/><b/>
<a/><b/>
<a/><b/>
<a/><b/>

into

<w><a/><b/></w>
<w><a/><b/></w>
<w></a><b/></w>

Adding wrappers around repeated patterns strikes me as quite important 
and common.
