That's fascinating. A tree model that has no node objects.

Another such model, which goes for even higher space compression than the TinyTree, is the "succinct DOM" designed by my colleague O'Neil Delpratt for his Ph.D. thesis. There's a Java implementation of this design (written by a third party) at https://github.com/yshahun/succinct-dom

We've never got around to exploring how it compares.
