Do you know what data formats use parentheses to indicate a negative value?

It's used by accountants because it's cheaper than the traditional red ink and more visible than a minus sign.
As far as I know, it is always provided by formatting performed close to the end user (nowadays often in Excel) rather than being used internally or in data interchange.
