Dear colleagues,

Markup Compatibility and Extensions of OOXML (ISO/IEC
29500-3) is a specification for XML vocabulary evolution.
It was developed as part of OOXML by Microsoft, but it is
certainly possible to use MCE without using the rest of
OOXML. I think that it is an important work in the XML
technology.

The 2nd edition was prepared for making MCE much
more comprehensive and interoperable. It does not
introduce any new features but rather removes
unnecessary features. It makes the processing
model much much clearer.

Unfortunately, the 2nd CD is not publicly available, but
a slightly earlier draft is. The only difference is minor.

Draft:

An implementation in XSLT2 is available at:

Comments welcome.

Regards,
Makoto
