That opens yet another can of tasty worms. :-) Once again I think the 
common knowledge in this area is wrong. I do not believe schemas should 
be shared. I do not think they actually are shared as much as most 
people expect, once you actually start digging into systems. I think 
that the benefits of any size improvements achieved by sharing the 
schema are likely to be outweighed by the disadvantages of tightly 
coupling your documents to a single schema. And finally I think that 
most schema-aware compression schemes are lossy.

But that's another thread. :-)
