Well that's not quite right; since he is defining a subset, any 
XML-reading tools should work fine; there might be problems with 
XML-writing tools, but a minor post-processing edit seems likely to clean 
that up.  That's quite different, say, from an earlier discussion on this 
list where someone replaced the equal sign in attributes with a marker 
indicating the datatype, as in "price$'50'" or something like that.

Life's not fair.  In the early SOAP days, people  complained because the 
spec outlawed DTD's.  Once all the "bigco's" got on board, it seemed to 
have stopped becoming an issue.
