Between the time I read the spec and you read it, there have been several changes that now make well-formed HTML 5 more plausible. Previously there was no empty-element tag syntax, and end-tags were forbidden on void elements such as img, br, and meta. Empty-element tags are still problematic on non-void elements, and there are some other issues; but they're just annoying, not crippling. -- Elliotte Rusty Harold elharo@m...
