It seems that Schema will have nothing to do with parsed entities, external 
or otherwise, and DTDs are beneath me :p  Oh well, I think I should just 
drop this harebrained idea and just verify the validity of IDs across 
multiple files inside the program that consumes those files.  Thanks to 
everyone for your responses.
