If it is true that complex adaptive systems open niches that 
become opportunities, it is also true that those niches are 
not always occupied by the current majority.  It can be the 
case that they expose the weaknesses of that majority and 
open up opportunities for new and radically different 
species.

In English:  it may be the case that XML itself, binary 
or not, is simply not the right solution, and the sensors 
are the edge of the network.  Loss of performance there 
is a loss throughout the system(s).

Don't worry, binary XML will save us all before you have time enough to 
switch on all those sensors!
