Which, according to conventional wisdom, is how/why XSD is what it is. 
And there seems to be consensus to "do better."  Yet, as Liam observed 
at the members meeting back in February, who else should do this but W3C?

It's going to be very hard.  Irresistable forces create intractable 
standards. :)
