Momento does not depend on Saxon. I probably won't support a
separate query or xpath engine any time soon, but it's entirely
possible to use an alternative engine.

I have a read-only implementation of W3C DOM, as well as SAX
content handlers and emitters, so Momento can probably hook up
    to most existing XML utilties.

    I'm a Saxon fanatic myself, but that doesn't mean I don't want
to permit the widest adoption possible.
