I do hate "persist" as a transitive verb. Not only because it's not in the
dictionary as such, but because it's such a perversion of Malcolm Atkinson's
original concept that instead of programs reading and writing data, they
should simply declare the data to be persistent.

Data persists, it isn't persisted.

Sorry to go off at a tangent...
