the problem of parsing for errors in a namespaced 
environment that includes HTML.

But this horse died when DOM left the barn with 
HTML grandfathered into it.   So it comes down to 

o Be careful and don't rely on draconian 
  tests in a mixed bag

o Mileage will vary by application

o New technologies, browsers or otherwise, that 
  provide full-up XML support will not use HTML 
  as currently defined.

... where there's data intended for human consumption at 
the end of the pipeline there's going to a renderer. Usually a HTML 
renderer.
