Thank Michael. I read that and appreciated it when it was published. From the X3D perspective, we had the requirements for a binary for real-time 3D before we created the new XML-encoding. VRML97 uses a format that for text, is about as parsimonious as it gets. It wasn't enough. So XML binarization is not our motivator; XML just made the requirement more necessary given its verbosity and problems with data type support, but we need the binary with or with out XML, and so, that is a task going forward with some priority at the W3DC. len -----Original Message----- From: Michael Leventhal [mailto:hanagid@e...] I might mention again that I wrote an article last year covering the first W3C binary XML workshop activity which cataloged, for your pleasure Len, the various features and objectives of the many different attempts.
